About Us
The Kansas City Cave Bears was founded in 1994 as a means to promote friendship and camaraderie for Bears, Cubs, Otters, and their admirers, as well as to provide an organized group to aid in the raising of funds for charitable purposes. Championing fellowship, the KCCB provides social opportunities outside of the traditional gay setting of the bars and clubs for those men that may not be "appreciated" in traditional gay outlets which require a certain look or attitude.
The KCCB is a not-for-profit corporation in the State of Missouri. Volunteers coordinate our activities with input from monthly gatherings.

Do I Need A Beard To Join The Group?
Nope!! Although we don't like to put a stereotype on "bears", there are some physical traits that tend to classify an individual as a "bear". In general, bears have a moustache or beard, are older, heavier, and have more body hair than most men, but that is not always the case. Otters tend to have the traits of a bear, but are thinner, and Cubs are younger. KCCB does not discriminate against potential members based on their physical appearance. Some of our affiliates are not "bears" at all, but just enjoy being around rugged looking, bearish men. KCCB was established to promote various activities and events to men who enjoy being around other men. Being a "bear" involves a different outlook on life, and we strive towards inclusive policies.

Aren't Bear Groups Just Sex Clubs?
KCCB is not a sex club. It's just a group of bearish men and admirers having fun. Most KCCB events are strictly social in nature and are open for anyone to attend. If a "sexually oriented" event were planned, it would be identified as such in advance with no pressure to attend. Some bears are rather shy, after all.

Does It Cost Anything To Join?
Affiliates pay a $25 fee per year to cover expenses such as:
- Mailing The Cavern Chronicle and updates
- ooth fees for area pride events
- KCCB private parties
- Logo ID pins
- KCCB referral cards
There are other events planned through out the year to help raise funds for various local and national charities in which contributions are strictly voluntary.

Are There Any General Provisions Or Rules For Affiliates?
KCCB's mailing list and affiliate forms are kept strictly confidential and used solely for in-house correspondence. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to terminate affiliation of any person(s) found to violate the rules of KCCB.
If you see someone at an activity you would like to get your paws on afterwards, be considerate and respectful when hunting for Bears, Otters, or Cubs. "No" means "No".
Coordinators for KCCB functions and club operations are selected every six (6) months from volunteers. However, if you want to organize an activity that would interest the group, we welcome your proposals and suggestions.
